Saigon Motorbike Offroad Loop – Ba Ria Military Base: 1 Day of Hectic Fun

🏍️DISCOVERING A NEW LOOP – OFFROADING AROUND SAIGON, SOUTHERN VIETNAM

Written by Dan

Spending one day away from Saigon doesn’t have to be boring. We pack in all kinds of exciting terrain in this short trip. Learn how to be comfortable in sketchy situations or go hard and have tons of fun.

It has been very well-known amongst riders in HCMC that the highway to Vung Tau or Ba Ria has been one of the worst one to ride on. It’s such a shame because Vung Tau can potentially be a fun destination for foreigners/locals. However, we bring GREAT news, we have successfully reconstructed the way to Vung Tau. No more painful highway with insane traffic and speedtraps!

Getting to a cool destination with extremely good local cuisine, great entertainment is such a reward for conquering all of the riding surfaces this tour will throw at you.

Rubber trees plantations, hard-packed surface, wide open plains, jungle single tracks, small streams, mud, sand, rocky paths. There’s even two hard enduro sections if you haven’t had enough.

What is better is that we can add in a few harder loops for those who like their adventure a bit more “extreme”. Added technical loops can get you into those “stuck” situations, the ones that we feel so satisfied about once we get out from it. Or you can take it easy all the way with mild offroad and then finish with some cocktails by the beach with freshly caught seafood.

The Honda XR 150 once again proved why it’s our trusty work-horse, definitely one of the best motorbikes for Vietnam, while the Suzuki DRZ added its own unique flavor. Nevertheless, both models are proven capable dualsport machines, 80% of this loop can be done comfortably while having the most amount of fun with these bikes. But if you’re looking to conquer everything these trails have to offer, we recommend choosing an optimized offroad Honda CRF150L. These bikes will be equipped with rim locks, proper off-road tires, handguards, etc.

Our specific Tour itinerary can be referred to here: 1 Day Ho Chi Minh City Offroad Loop

Keep in mind that our itinerary can be extremely flexible, spending more time in Vung Tau for some delicious local cuisine or heading back to Sai Gon for a cozy relax afternoon as soon as 3PM is up to be decided by you.

In conclusion, this is one of the tour that has always been in-development for us, the general idea is that rural areas within 100km to huge city like Ho Chi Minh are changing very rapidly by the weeks. You can’t simply plan any route and hope that it stays the same every single time. So to have a loop that’s both interesting and consistence is not something you come across everyday.
