What are the differences between city rental and road trip rental?
City rentals are aimed at rentals staying within the city. We offer city rentals with a minimum of 2 days. Consider the range of 20km to 50km per day, with a total of 1,500km per month.
Road-trip motorbike rentals are charged on a daily rate and have unlimited kilometers. You may leave the city and travel Vietnam.
The prices are higher, but this reflects the distance increase and the way we handle breakdowns and difficult situations that may occur outside the city.
What happens if I exceed the mileage limit of the contract?
We charge the extra kilometers at a per kilometer rate indicated on the rental contract.
Can I extend my rental period if needed?
Our rental contracts include a renewal date rather than an end date. The customer may keep the same rental and renew with us, we will then confirm the next period’s rental amount.
What is provided with the bike?
Our bikes come with a phone holder, up to 2 helmets, an optional raincoat, a copy of the registration and the government insurance document. We can also provide a storage rear box for a rental fee.
Do you provide helmets?
We provide up to 2 free helmets with every rental. These will be 2nd hand, but in good condition.

We will follow the flight’s tracking to estimate the correct time of delivery, we will target arrival at the parking lot for 30-45 minutes after landing time. We will meet the customer at Starbucks and take you to the bike in the parking lot to deliver the bike. The customer must pay the parking fee which can be from 6,000 to 10,000 VND upon leaving the airport. We will charge a 200,000 VND fee to deliver and wait within the airport’s parking lot. Now, since the introduction of e-scooters to The Extra Mile fleet, you have the possibility to rent our Vinfast Klara S without needing any driving license. The bike and all the details can be found here.
Can I travel by bike?
Some of our bikes are allowed to be used for road trips outside of HCMC. They are listed in our road-trip price list. All other bikes listed only in our city-rental pricings are not allowed to be used for road trips.
Do you offer any discounts for multiple bike rentals?
Yes, we offer group discounts. Depending on the quantity and models selected we will make an offer for a group rental.
Can I cross borders with the bike?
No, we do not allow our bikes to go out of Vietnam, and in any case the procedure is very complicated and requires the legal owner to do it.
What is the cancellation policy for motorbike rentals, will I get my deposit back?
We refund all pre-booking deposits.
Where should I park?
The safest way to park is to park in a parking lot with a ticket.
Alternatively, several shops have a security guard that will guide you into parking. In some cases, shops do not have a security guard nor clear parking space. We recommend keeping the bike in a location where you can keep an eye on it.
In any case, do not leave the bike unattended on the streets, in Vietnam bikes not properly parked get stolen easily.
Be mindful that locals frequently leave bikes in some street areas, that is illegal parking and easily subject to theft or police confiscation.
What should I do if I lose a parking ticket?
The security will have a process to authorize the bike pick up, usually the verification of ownership documents and an ID. It is possible that you may need to reach out to us for confirmation of ownership.
What happens if the bike gets stolen?
In case of theft, the customer will be responsible to compensate us for the value of the bike based on the rental contract. We will support via the legal way with a police report and other documents needed, however from our experience stolen bikes never get found by the local police. The only way to prevent theft is to park safely and never leave the bike unattended on the street.
What makes The Extra Mile different from other companies?
We try and separate ourselves out by having well-maintained, high-quality motorbikes. That might seem like a generic answer, but the market is full of cheap and cheerful scooter rentals at very low prices. Many of these companies are maintaining their fleet of motorbikes on shoestring budgets.
We want our riders to be proud of the motorbike they are driving, and confident in its reliability. Our maintenance intervals are on a schedule, rather than a “fix when broken” basis.
We also offer premium motorbikes and scooters that other companies simply don’t provide.
Ultimately, we want to charge a premium for a premium service!

FAQ about fixing and maintenance
Who is responsible for the bike’s maintenance?
We handle all maintenance and fixing of our bikes. Customers shall not handle it themselves unless explicitly agreed with us.
What do I do in case of a mechanical problem?
Call us or message us first to report the problem. We will arrange to pick up the bike with issues and we will provide a replacement in the meantime. We will exchange back after solving the problem.
Do you attend 24/7 in case of an emergency?
We do during our working hours of 9am to 6pm. Overtime support is provided within the range of 8am to 9pm. Outside of this range, we will first provide support online or by phone to find a convenient solution. Most times the solution is parking the bike in a nearby parking lot to solve it the following morning. Should there be no available immediate solution and if the case is critical, then we will come to support.
Do I need to pay for overtime support?
If the case falls into our responsibility due to a mechanical problem or error of maintenance, we will cover the respective costs. If we find out the issue is due to a user error, then there will be an overtime fee. If the customer requests a normal (non-emergency) task in overtime, we will then ask for an overtime fee.
What do I do in the case of punctures?
There are mechanics everywhere in Vietnam, and they are cheap. The word to type is vá vỏ and the rate is usually around 20k to 50k. The customer is responsible for paying for this.
If you really are stuck, you can call us and we will rescue you for our standard callout fee of 100,000vnd.
What happens if I damage the bike in an accident?
We will assess the fixing costs and your deposit will be used towards those costs. If the deposit covers, we will return the remaining deposit amount assuming the rental ends. If the customer wishes to keep renting, then the deposit must be completed again.
If the damage is higher than the security deposit, then the customer is responsible for completing the damage. We will not claim extra penalties for loss of use of the bike for future bookings, we only require the customer to pay for the damage caused to the bike during the rental.

Your private insurance should cover your personal injuries and perhaps material damage if you are riding legally. Our bikes comply with the necessary requirements, the rider is then responsible for having the appropriate driving licence.

The police may stop you for an infraction, an administrative check (documents) or for an alcohol test. In case of an infraction, request proof of the infraction and then only provide your documents to the police. In an administrative check, you must provide the copy of registration as well as your licence (if the bike requires a licence to be driven), the rental contract could be needed as supporting documents for the copy of registration since the originals are normally required. In case of difficulties, give us a call to mediate with the police.
What happens if the police confiscated the bike?
The police may confiscate the bike should you commit a proven infraction that warrants a confiscation, such as excessive speed, alcohol content in the blood or not having a driving licence. In these cases, you will need to work with us to get the bike back from the police, in which case the customer will be responsible to cover all fees of the potential fine and other related fees.
